MCID at the “Nacht der Forschung” 2025

The MCID once again joined the University of Bern’s Nacht der Forschung, a vibrant evening of science that welcomed more than 10,000 visitors. Guests had the chance to explore diverse exhibitions showcasing the cutting-edge research happening across the university.

We were proud to present highlights from several MCID research teams, including BEready and the Ethics and Policy Lab.

Our stand also featured:

  • A Pandemic Control Centre, where visitors could follow a real-time virtual reality outbreak as it unfolded [See how the outbreak progressed → here]
  • Posters on MCID-funded research projects
  • Hands-on activities for all ages, from quizzes to our Pathogen Detective game and our handwash station
  • Creative fun like face painting, temporary tattoos, “make your own pathogen” and interactive posters
  • The now legendary “Splat the Bacteria” challenge

Events like “Nacht der Forschung” are always a highlight for us, not only as a chance to highlight our science, but to step out of the lab and connect directly with the public. Sharing ideas, sparking curiosity, and seeing the excitement in both kids and adults reminds us why we do what we do!
