Dr. Bettina Zimmermann, short biography
Dr. Bettina Zimmermann holds a BA in Media and Communication Sciences and a BSc in Biomedical Sciences from the University of Fribourg. She studied MSc Molecular Medicine at Uppsala University (Sweden) before moving to the University of Basel for her dissertation, which she graduated summa cum laude. Since 2020, she has been a part-time postdoc at the Institute of History and Ethics in Medicine at the Technical University of Munich, working on the ethics workpackage in the EU-funded consortium “TherVacB – A therapeutic vaccine to cure Hepatitis B” and “Solidarity in Times of a pandemic (SolPan)”. In parallel, Bettina won a SAMW Käthe-Zingg Schwichtenberg seed grant for junior researchers and a Research Grant for Junior Researchers from the University of Basel to pursue self-designed research projects at the University of Basel. In January 2023, she started at the Institute of Philosophy at the University of Bern with the MCID-funded project “ESPRIM - Ethical Considerations of the Relationships and Interactions between Science, Policy and the Media during the COVID-19 pandemic”.
